Today’s entry is going to be a bit different. I have many Polysics interviews bookmarked, and for this entry, I went through them to compile information about the future of the band. I found just a couple of things (that were actually in English for a change!) that referenced what’s coming for Polysics, but it does sound like it’s going to be still Polysics!
“We’ve been making music, performing and touring with her for about twelve years, so we’ll miss her when she graduates. But graduation is not only a sad thing; it’s also a starting point of something new, which is a happy thing. If Kayo wants to try at things other than POLYSICS, we’re going to support her. We’ve become very positive about it now. Well, to tell the truth, her departure is not an abrupt thing; she’s been thinking about it for two years now. And we were taking slow steps in discussing how to set the right way for her graduation. We see it in a positive attitude that both Kayo and the rest of us are going to kick off a new beginning.
[...]
We have already decided to move on. We have never thought of breaking up just because of Kayo is leaving. We will start new and reinvent POLYSICS.”

You plan on going on hiatus following Kayo’s departure. What do you have planned during your hiatus? Should Polysics fans be worried that this may be the last chance they have to see you?
Even though Kayo graduates and [the band] will only consist of the three of us, we will continue Polysics. We don’t have any plans to have a new member for now. Rather than thinking that it’s our hiatus, please consider this our preparation period to start as a new Polysics. We are already starting our preparation, so we are sure to meet everyone again.
– From here“The thing we can definitely say is that our sound will be completely different from that of the previous Polysics. The band will be re-born and go in the second stage of Polysics. We’re not going to be on hiatus for long.”

So, it sounds like soon, we will see a new Polysics and they’ll be better than ever!! I am very happy they are pretty positive about Kayo’s graduation, because it would have been horrible if the band was torn apart by her decision. Since it had been coming for at least two years, they must have some idea on how to continue after her departure, so I am not worried!
In fact, I’m excited!! Omedetoisu Kayo, for graduating! I hope to see your ceremony videos soon! Early summer, everyone, and then we’ll have the Budokan DVD! Kayo’s DVD!!
And here’s a last quote from an interview that I really liked.
I’m usually so energised by Polysics music, I feel like I might be missing a message. Am I?
Fumi: The theme of Polysics or the core of Polysics, I think you received it. You’re feeling it.Energy?
Fumi: Yes!”

Please, let us never forget the Polysics energy!!
